The General Retirement System of the City of Detroit is a program which, together with
your Social Security benefits, will help you and your family meet the economic challenges
of retirement, disability or death. The Retirement System consists of a Defined Benefit
Plan and a Defined Contribution (Annuity) Plan. Membership in the Defined Contribution
(Annuity) Plan is optional. A Board of Trustees administers the Retirement System. The
Board of Trustees consists of five elected active employees, one elected retiree, a
Citizen, and three ex-officio trustees.
The purpose of this website is to provide a convenient source of online information
about the Retirement System and its benefit plans. You'll also be able to send e-mail to
the administration and staff who work for you
at the Retirement System. In the future, we hope to add even more documents and
capabilities.
